专题03 阅读理解中考考前强化20篇(一)原卷版
Conner Wight is in his final year at university, but he still has many classes to attend. He is studying Henry David Thoreau, Ralph Waldo Emerson—and how to wash clothes.
The 21-year-old is preparing for his post-college life. He realized it enough to know how to understand literature. So he signed up for(报名)a class on “adulting”. He has been learning many basic life skills.
There are now thousands of “adults in training”. Wright is only one of them. Not only college students but many others are discovering they need help. Some middle schools have scheduled(预定)adulting classes.
But why don’t parents teach their children these life skills We interviewed many students. Their parents, they say, care a lot about test scores. Almost everything else is considered unimportant. As a result, colleges are filled with students with perfect test scores. Many of them, however, don’t know how to cook.
Sometimes, students come up with their own solutions(解决方法). Neither Belle Lau nor Jenny Zhou felt fully prepared for life away from home when they arrived at their university. But by their second year there, they had learned to live on their own. The two noticed that many of their classmates had been experiencing similar difficulties. They decided to set up an adulting course. When it was first offered in 2019, its 30 spots(名额)quickly filled up. 70 students had to be refused. Last year, there were more courses, but Lau and Zhou still had to turn down 100 students.
Lau says that she and Zhou don’t have all the answers for their students. That is in fact part of becoming an adult. As kids, we could wait for our parents to step in and take care of things for us. But after we become an adult, that’s no longer available to us. When difficulties appear, we must depend on ourselves to “hunt for” a solution.

What do you think of when you see the word “actor” Actors, many people would say, are the people who perform up on a stage (在舞台上表演), on television or in films. They are all about being seen. However, there is a group of actors who are never seen. They are only heard and hardly seen.
Meet loopers. Their job is to record what people in the background of a scene could be saying. The work begins only after the show or film has been shot and edited (编辑).
One recent Sunday, on a sound stage at Fox Studios in Los Angeles, seven loopers were recording dialogues for a TV show. They were working on a restaurant scene, speaking lines (台词) that people at background tables might speak. As they recorded, the loopers stood in a circle under two overhead microphones (话筒). A scene was played silently on a big screen. At exactly the right moment, they started to walk around and talk. Later, the dialogues would be mixed into the scene they were watching.
David Betancount, a mixer explained why looping was necessary. “The dialogues appear meaningless, but they improve the experience of what you are watching,” he said. “A show without these dialogues just feels dead.”
To fill in the background sounds, loopers watch the movie or show, take notes and then discuss how they should do their research. For example, when they were working on Bones, ad film show, the loopers researched the language of forensic (法医的) scientists.
The next time you watch a show or film, pay some attention to the background dialogues. Imagine what scene would be like without the loopers. You will then realize how important these “unseen actors” are.

My five-year-old son befriends the woman. It starts with voices in the yard. When I come out to check on Daniel, his face is pressed on the fence(篱笆).
The woman says, “You wait right here. I’ll be right back.”
She returns with a saw(锯子). There’s a whirring. A circle in the wooden fence drops out of sight.
“Dad! Sandy just drilled out a hole in the fence so Sandy and I can talk!” Daniel spins around.
I hadn’t known her name was Sandy. We’ve lived here a month before Daniel was born.
Daniel’s and Sandy’s murmuring voices continue. Whenever Daniel is outside, he circles near the fence that isn’t a fence any more. Some days my son just goes to stand at the hole, yelling, “Sandy! Saaaaandyyyyy!” Sometimes I hear bits of their talk.
“We painted a ghost at school.”
Or: ‘‘Wheeler and Jackson were playing football, and they told me I couldn’t play.”
“That wasn’t very nice,” says Sandy. “Did that hurt your feelings Did you let them know that ”
I can’t hear how he replies. A moment of envy runs through me. He never talks about his school things with me.
Daniel and Sandy not only keep chatting through the hole, they also exchange gifts.
A coloring book, then a Hot Wheels car. It’s unclear what Daniel gives Sandy in return.
One afternoon, I hear Sandy’s voice floating over the top of the fence with the hole.
“I thought maybe Daniel could come for a play date.”
We ring the bell on Sandy’s porch. She’s a middle-aged woman with smiling eyes.
Sandy’s yard is sweet with the smell of flowers. We have a pleasant after moon with Sandy, my son’s adult friend, the first friend Daniel has made on his own. We’ve passed through the hole in the fence.
A month later, Sandy leaves to care for her mother in Kansas. She left behind a box of presents: a coloring book, sidewalk chalk, the missing orange part in the Hot Wheels track. When I look at Daniel, he’s looking down at his shoes. He sometimes wanders down to the fence. Instead of calling “Sandy! Saaaaandyyyyy!” he cries. “Hello! Helloooooo!”

Framton Nuttel was in the country for a stress cure last month. His sister didn’t want him to be alone, so she had given him letters of introduction to all the people she knew in the area.
Mr Nuttel went to visit Mrs Sappleton as soon as he arrived, but was let in by her 15-year-old niece(侄女), Vera. Knowing that he didn’t know much about Mrs Sappleton, Vera told Mr. Nuttel the story of her aunt’s tragedy(悲剧). Exactly three years ago, her aunt’s husband, two brothers, and their dog went out to hunt but never returned. They sunk in a piece of bog(沼泽), and their bodies were never found. Her aunt kept the window open for them, believing they would come back through it.
Just at that moment, Mrs Sappleton entered excitedly, explaining that her husband and brothers would be home soon from hunting. It was horrible to Mr Nutel and he tried to change the subject.
Mr Nuttel explained his situation—he had been asked to have a complete rest, no mental excitement, and no physical exercise. Mrs Sappleton was bored, but suddenly became cheerful when she saw the men and dog walking towards the house. Mr Nuttel looked at Vera, but was shocked to see horror in her eyes. He looked out of the window and saw the figures coming nearer.

“Have you ever heard Louis say good morning and good night to us, as the others do ”
“Since you mention it, I never have,” said the husband. “Goodness! What are you getting at Do you wish me to believe that I have a son who is dumb in any way This would worry me. I want everything to go well in my family life. Fatherhood is hard. I do not want the added stress of having a dumb child.”
“Well,” said the wife, “I’ve been watching Louis recently. I think the little guy can’t talk. I’ve never heard him make one sound. I think he came into the world lacking (缺失) a voice. If he had a voice, he’d use it, same as the others do.”
“Why, this is terrible!” said the husband. “This is painful. This is a very serious matter.” His wife looked at him. “It’s not too serious now,” she said. “But it will be serious two or three years from now when Louis falls in love, as he will surely do. A young male swan will be greatly handicapped in finding a mate if he can’t say the usual sweet words to the young female of his choice.”
The husband stood quietly, thinking about what his wife had just told him. He was a brave bird, and already he was beginning to work out a plan for his little son Louis.
“If it’s really true that Louis has no voice,” said the husband to himself, “then I shall provide him with a device (装置) of some kind, to enable him to make a lot of noise. There must be some way out of this difficulty. After all, my son is Trumpeter Swan; he should have a voice like a trumpet (小号). But first I will test him to make certain that what his mother says is true.”

The Teenager Brain
Teenagers have always been known to do unusual, even dangerous things. This was thought to be because of the “foolishness of youth.” Now, scientists have studied the physical development of the brain in more detail. Their discoveries have led to a new theory(理论)of why teens act this way.
A Work in Progress
Recently scientists discovered that only during adolescence(青春期)do our brains truly “grow up”. During this time, they go through great changes. These “changes” were once thought to be finished by about age 12. Now, scientists have found that our brains continue to change until age 25. Such changes make us better at balancing impulses(平衡冲动)with following rules. But a still-developing brain can hardly do this well. The result, scientists claim, is the unpredictable behavior seen in teenagers.
________
The studies show that teens are more likely to take risks(冒险)and behave in extreme ways. Luckily, the news isn't all negative. As brain scientist B.J. Casey points out, the teen brain inspires such behavior in order to help teens prepare for adult life.
One way the brain does this is by changing the way teens look at risks and rewards. Researchers found that when teens think about rewards, their brains create more pleasure than an adult brain would. Researchers believe this makes the rewards seem more important than the risks, and makes teens feel the excitement of new experiences more keenly than adults do.
Research into the teen brain also found that it makes social connections seem especially rewarding. As such, teens have a strong need to meet new people. Scientists suggest this is because as teens, we begin to realize our friends may one day control the world we live in. Because it is still developing, a teen brain can change to deal with new situations. So, it connects social rewards with more pleasure. In this way, the brain encourages teens to have a wide circle of friends, which is believed to make us more successful in life.
A Finished Brain
Unluckily, this search for greater rewards can sometimes lead teens to make bad decisions. However, it also means that teens are more likely, and less afraid, to try new things or to be independent. The scientists’ findings suggest that in the long run, the impulses of the teen brain are what help teens leave their parents’ care and live their own lives successfully.

School started again, and soon the ink(墨水)in Tom's spelling book was found. Tom said he hadn't split the ink, but that made it look as if he were lying. Becky almost said Alfred Temple had done it, but she kept quiet. She thought that Tom would tell the teacher about her tearing(撕)his book, so she didn't save him. Mr. Bobbins beat him and then Tom went back to his seat.
After an hour Mr. Bobbins unlocked his desk and took out his book. Tom looked over at Becky.
She looked like a hunted and helpless rabbit. The next moment the master faced the children. There was a long silence, then he spoke, "Who tore this book "

We often reach a point in our life when we should be ready for change that will help us unlock our self-improvement power. However, there’s always something staring at us right under our nose but we don’t see it. The only time we think of unlocking our self-improvement power is when everything gets worst.
When do we realize that we need to change diets When none of our shirts and jeans would fit us. When do we stop eating candies and chocolates When all of our teeth have fallen off. When do we realize that we need to stop smoking When our lungs have gone bad. We see the warning signs and signals when things get rough and difficult.
The only time most of us ever learn about unlocking our self-improvement power is when the whole world is falling apart. We think and feel this way because it is not easy to change, but change becomes more painful when we ignore(忽视) it,
Change will happen, like it or hate it. At one point or another. we are all going to finally unlock our self-improvement power not because the world says so. But because we realize it's for our own good.
Happy people don’t just accept change; they embrace (拥抱)it. Unlocking our self-improvement power means unlocking ourselves out of the box of thought that is just the way we are. It is such a poor excuse for people who fear change.
Jane always tells everyone that she doesn't have the courage to be around groups of people. She heard her family tell the same things about her to other people. Over the years, that is what Jane has believed. Every time a great crowd come, she steps back and locks herself up in a room. Jane not only believes in her story, but lives it!
Self-improvement may not be everybody’s favorite word, but if we look at things in a different way, we might have greater chances of enjoying the whole process instead of counting the days until we are fully improved. Three sessions in a week at the gym would result in a healthier life. Reading books every day would build up knowledge. And only when we are enjoying the whole process of unlocking our self-improvement power will we realize that we’re beginning to take things light and become happy.

Cheating(欺骗)can happen in a lot of different ways. When people cheat, it’s not fair to other people, like the kids who studied for the test or who the true winners of a game were.
Many people like the action of cheating. It makes difficult things seem easy, like getting all the right answers on the test. But it doesn’t solve the problem of not knowing the material and it won’t help on the next test--unless the person cheats again.
People lose respect for cheaters and think less of them. The cheaters themselves may feel bad because they know they are not really earning that good grade. And, if they get caught cheating, they will be in trouble at school, and may be at home, too.
Some kids cheat because they’re busy or lazy and they want to get good grades without spending time studying. Other kids might feel like they can’t pass the test without cheating, even when there seems to be a good reason for cheating, cheating isn’t a good idea.
If you were sick or upset about something the night before the day and couldn’t study, it would be better to talk with the teacher about this. And if you don’t have enough time to study for a test because of swim practice, you need to talk with your parents about how to balance swimming and school.
A kid who thinks cheating is the only way to pass a test needs to talk with the teacher and his or her parents so they can find some solutions together. Talking about these problems and working them out will feel better than cheating.

C.parents whose kids cheat are often in trouble
D.kids cheat in the test because of swim practice
When a computer works on a group of programs, it can get very hot. Cooling the computer can cost a lot. So some scientists wonder what would happen if the heat from the computer could be used.
Large Internet companies (公司) such as Google and Microsoft have thousands of computers. As these computers deal with information, they produce lots of heat, so they need huge cooling systems (系统). These systems send the heat into the air.
A company in Holland (荷兰) thinks paying to make the computers work and then paying again to cool them are a waste of energy. So the company developed a specialdevice—the e-Radiator.
Boaz Leupe, head of the company, says that e-Radiator works as a heating system and saves money. He explains that the energy is used twice—once to heat the home and once to cool the computer and that the users don’t have to pay to cool their computers.
Five homeowners in Holland are testing the heating system in their homes.
“We pay for the computer using, so, in that way, homeowners get heating for free,”Boaz says.
Jan Visser is one of the homeowners. “If you use the computer more, the e-Radiator producers more heat, ”he says, “It cannot provide enough heat if you don’t use your computer often.” But he is ready to try it. It’s a great help for his family.
The company says e-Radiators produce heat temperatures of up to 55℃. It says the system could save its users about $440 a year.

Sports can help you keep fit and close to nature. However, whether you are on the mountains, in the waves, or on the grassland, you should realize that sport you choose might have great influence on the environment.
Some sports are resource—hungry. Golf(高尔夫), as you may know, eats up not only large areas of countryside, but also lots of water. Besides, huge amounts of energy are used to keep its courses (球场) in good condition. This causes major environmental changes. For example, in the dry places of Portugal and Spain, golf is often held responsible for (为…承担责任) serious water shortage(短缺) in some local areas.
There are many environment—friendly sports. Power walking is one of them that you could take up today. You don’t need any special equipment except a good pair of shoes, and you don’t have to worry about resources and your purse. Simple and free, power walking can also help you stay healthy. If you walk regularly, it will be good for your heart. Experts say that 20 minutes of power walking daily can make you feel less anxious, sleep well and keep thin.
Whatever sport you take up, you can make it greener by using environment—friendly equipment and buying products(产品) made from recycled materials. But the final goal should be “green gyms.” They are better replacements(替代) for traditional health clubs and modern sports centers. Members of green gyms(体育,体育馆) play sports outdoors, in the countryside or other open spaces. There is no special requirement for you to start your membership(会员身份). And best of all, it’s free.

Reading can be a social activity. Think of the people who belong to book groups. They choose books to read and then meet to discuss them. Now, the website turns the page on the traditional idea of a book group.
Members go on the site and register (注册) the books they own and would like to share. BookCrossing provides an identification number (标识号) to stick inside the book. Then the person leaves it in a public place, hoping that the book will have an adventure (冒险), traveling far and wide with each new reader who finds it.
Bruce Pederson, the managing director of BookCrossing, says, "The two things that change your life are the people you meet and books you read. BookCrossing brings them together."
Members leave books on park benches and buses, in train stations and coffee shops. Whoever finds their book will go to the site and record where they found it.
People who find a book can also leave a journal entry describing what they thought of it. E-mails are then sent to the BookCrossers to keep them updated (更新) about where their books have been found. Bruce Pederson says the idea is for people not to be selfish by keeping a book to gather dust on a shelf at home.

Perhaps you've seen the English letters "WC" in your city. They show public toilets. But do you know it is far from elegant English In fact, foreigners from English-speaking countries rarely use the letters.
Workers in our city are changing "WC" signs all over the city. The government is spending much money changing all the bad English on signs and restaurant menus. Many other places in China are following our steps.
"WC, or water closet, is old-fashioned English. It sounds dirty to me, " says Charlie Shifflet, a young man from the US. The old sign will become "Gents/Men" and "Ladies/ Women".
"I see lots of poor English in everyday life, and not only on signs, " he says. "I know what they mean. But they are Chinglish, not real English. For example, when someone says to me ‘My hometown is Henan Province’, I know he would say: ‘My hometown is in Henan Province’. ‘Hometown’ is a smaller place in a province.” The common mistakes he picked up include "Not Entry", which should be "No Entry", "Direction of Airport" should be changed to "To the Airport". And it is "room rate", not "room price". And remember to "Keep off the grass", rather than "Care of the green".

One day, you open the fridge and find some moldy(发霉的)food. But before you can throw it away, your mother stops you. She doesn't want to waste food. She cuts off the moldy part and eats the rest. Is it safe to do this
Mold(霉菌)can grow on almost all kinds of food. Mold is usually green, white, black or grey. Mold makes food soft and changes its color. Moldy food tastes quite bad and it's not safe to eat.
If you find mold in soft food, just throw it away. Soft food, such as bread, tomatoes or hot dogs, usually contains(包含)water. This allows mold to easily grow below its surface. Bacteria(细菌)can also grow along with it.
But it's easy to remove mold from hard food. The mold can't grow very deeply inside this kind of food. According to the BBC, you should cut about 2.5 cm around and below the mold to remove it. It's OK to cut the moldy parts out of hard food and eat the rest. But if the food is completely covered with mold, you should still throw it away.
Most kinds of mold are bad for us. But some kinds of mold can be used to make food. For example, penicillium(青霉菌)can be used to make many types of cheeses, such as blue cheese. These cheeses are safe to eat and they're quite delicious as well.

Miss Geraldine Mugg caught up the rather large toy animal and hugged it tightly in her arms.
"Be careful" called her sister. "You may break him!"
"Oh, he's just a Stuffed Elephant!" laughed Geraldine. "I mean he hasn't any works inside him to wind up(结束).There's nothing but cotton inside him. But I am beginning to like him more than I cane for some of the toys that do wind up. I almost wish I were small again, so I could have this Elephant for myself!"

In the eyes of many foreigners, Chinese are the best hosts and the worst guests in the world. They’re not really bad guests, but because the guest-host relationship in China is much different from that in some western countries, it appears they are not nice guests. And western guests sometimes look rude in the eyes of Chinese guests.
In China, guests are almost like gods. Whenever I enter a Chinese person’s home, there is always fruit on the table for me, and someone is quick to bring me a cup of tea or water. In the west, generally the guest is not a god. Acting according to the host’s way of doing things is usual behavior for a guest.
My wife’s mother, a very kind elderly Chinese lady, doesn’t smoke. When I see some of her guests smoking in her house, as a non-smoker, I feel unhappy. Usually I want to stop them directly, but I must realize that in China, to be a good host, she must not do that. In most North American homes, if you are a guest, and the hosts are not smokers, you should not smoke in their house. At the very least, you could ask, "Is it OK if I smoke " But, don’t be surprised if they say, "No, you can’t smoke. " In our culture, if you smoke in their home, you are a bad guest, but if they don’t allow you to smoke in their house, they are not a rude host.
Guests in China also have special habits. Some western people may not adapt to these habits very soon. Thankfully my wife is Chinese, so whenever we visit a Chinese family she tells me to buy them a gift. However, giving a gift to a host is not always necessary in my country. So, if you invite international guests to your home, don’t be too surprised if they don’t bring you a gift.
In China, you probably won’t need to change the guest-host relationship very much because you will probably only be the host, and Chinese are naturally very good hosts. If western hosts invite you to their house, try not to be too surprised if their style of treating you is not what you have expected.

C.Sorry, you can’t smoke here. D.Smoking is a bad habit.
3.What is the meaning of the underlined phrase "adapt to" in the passage
A.think back to B.get used to
C.look forward to D.keep close to
4.What is the main idea of this passage
A.Foreigners should learn from Chinese.
B.Hosts must do things in the guests’ way.
C.Western hosts are always nice to guests.
D.People should understand cultural differences.

There are hundreds of words that are multi-meaning words. The word "set" has more meanings than any other word in the English language. When you have time, why don't you try to think of all the ways the word "set" is used
If, you look at the title of this book Can a Fly, Fly you know that the answer is "Yes" because you have seen an insect named a "fly" go up in the air and move around through the ai which is what "fly" means. Can a Fly, Fly Of course, it can!

The Lantern Festival falls on the 15th of the first month of the lunar calendar. This day is always the first full moon in the new year. Ancient people also called it Shangyuan Festival. Celebrations and traditions on this day began from the Han Dynasty and became popular in the Tang Dynasty.
Watching the red lanterns is one of the main traditions. Lanterns of different shapes and sizes are usually put on trees, or along river banks on show. It is said that sky lanterns were first used by Zhuge Kongming to ask for help when he was in trouble. Today, when the lanterns slowly rise into the air, people make wishes.
Another tradition is guessing lantern riddles. The riddles are usually short, wise, and sometimes humorous. The answer to a riddle can be a Chinese character, a famous person's name, or a place name.
The most important thing is to eat sweet dumplings with different tastes. In northern China, they are called yuan xiao while in southern part they're named tangyuan. Because making sweet dumplings is like a game or an activity, they are usually done happily by a group of friends or family members.
In old times, the Lantern Festival was also romantic. Watching lanterns gave young people a chance to meet each other. A line from Xin Qiji a poet during the Song Dynasty, shows this;
Hundreds and thousands of times I searched for her in the crowed. Suddenly I turned, and there she stood,in the dim light.

Every artist knows in his heart that he is saying something to the public. Not only does he want to say it well, but he wants it to be something that has not been said before. He hopes the public will listen and understand what he wants to teach them, and what he wants them to learn from him.
What visual(视觉的)artists like painters want to teach is easy to make out but difficult to explain, because painters translate their experience into shapes and colours, not words. They seem to feel that a certain selection of shapes and colours, out of countless billions of, is exceptionally interesting for them and worth showing to us. Without their work we should never have noticed these particular Shapes and colours. or have felt the delight which they brought to the artist.
Most artists take their shapes and colours from the world of nature and from human bodies in motion and at rest; their choices indicate(指示)that these aspects of the world are worth looking at, that they contain beautiful sights. Contemporary(当代的)artists might say that they merely choose subjects that provide an interesting pattern, that there is nothing more in it. Yet even they do not choose entirely without reference to the character of their subjects.
If one painter chooses to paint a decaying(腐烂)leg and another a lake in moonlight, each of them is directing our attention to a certain aspect of the world. Each painter is telling us something, showing us something, emphasizing something-all of which means that, consciously(有意识地)or unconsciously, he is trying to teach us.

4.What do you know from the passage
A.A painting is more easily understood that music.

1.Why did Conner Wright attend a class on “adulting”
A.To improve his test scores in literature.
B.To find solutions to problems with study.
C.To know students from different countries.
D.To develop abilities of living on his own.

A.30. B.70. C.100. D.130.
3.What does the underlined word available in the last paragraph mean

Mr Nuttel gathered his things wildly and left the house at once, nearly bumping outside with a cyclist. Mr Sappleton entered the house and asked about the man who had just run away. His wife explained who he was, but couldn’t explain why he had left suddenly, as if he’d seen a ghost.

1.Which of the following about adolescent’s brain is true
A.It stops growing almost at twelve.
B.It is going through a lot of changes.
C.It does many things in a perfect way.
D.It is better than an adult brain with rules.
2.Which could be the best heading for Paragraph 3, 4 & 5
A.Pleasure Explorers. B.Brain Researchers.
C.Decision Makers. D.Future Planners.
3.What does the word “keenly” in Paragraph 4 probably mean
A.Calmly. B.Slowly. C.Strongly. D.Strangely.
4.What can we learn from the passage
A.The teenager brains are more likely to be dependent.
B.The impulses of the teen brain may benefit teens’ growth.
C.The effect of teens’ behavior in extreme ways is negative.
D.The hope to control the world leads teens to meet new people.

1.The writer mentions the three questions in Paragraph 2 to show that .
A.we learn our lessons when we experience pain.
B.we are responsible for the problems we meet.

A.She needs to remember why she started.
B.She has to know how to get on with people.
C.She has to realize she is not what she is in her story.
D.She needs to understand the importance of confidence.
3.The writer probably agrees that .
A.the world tells us how to improve ourselves.
B.people change when they find it easy to do that.
C.welcoming change in life is a drive to become better.
D.enjoying the process of self-improvement makes life simpler.
4.Which of the following would be the best title for the passage

1.The author thinks that when kids cheat in class, ______.
A.it is unfair to other people B.it does harm to their health
C.teachers should punish them D.teachers shouldn’t stop them at once
2.Some students like cheating mainly because______.

B.they want to do better than the others
C.cheating can make hard things seem very easy.
D.they have little time to study their lessons.
3.The fourth paragraph mainly tells us______.
A.some kids can’t pass the test without cheating
B.why kids cheat in the test
C.cheating isn’t a good idea
D.some kids don’t spend the time studying
4.We can learn from the passage _______.
A.cheaters are often thought highly of

BookCrossing is popular with people who want to get back to the "real" and not the virtual (虚拟). The site now has more than one million members in more than one hundred and thirty-five countries.

1.When a western guest visits a Chinese family, he often ____________.

A.It’s OK if you smoke here. B.Let’s smoke together.
C.Sorry, you can’t smoke here. D.Smoking is a bad habit.
3.What is the meaning of the underlined phrase "adapt to" in the passage
A.think back to B.get used to
C.look forward to D.keep close to

A.Foreigners should learn from Chinese.
B.Hosts must do things in the guests’ way.
C.Western hosts are always nice to guests.
