For 16-year-old Ma Yifei, the violin performance of the Beijing 2022 Olympic theme song, Snowflake, was her best present for Paralympians (残奥运动员) all over the world. Even though snowflakes are connected with winter, she let others experience warmth, hope and light through her performance. “I’m also disabled and I want to do something for them with my music,” said Ma.
Ma went blind at the age of two because of an illness. She became interested in music when she was young. She started to learn to play the piano at five and the violin at nine, experiencing the “colorful” music through sound and emotion.
Ma’s mother Ha Chunyan, a former music teacher in a primary school, helped her memorize the music score (乐谱) before she played the piano. Ma could not see the keys and always played the wrong notes. It took her thousands of tries to play a piece correctly.
Learning the violin was more challenging. Ma needed to feel the teacher’s hands, arms and back to learn the movements, and listen to the strings (弦) over and over again to feel the muscles (肌肉) herself.
“After three years of learning, she still could not make any sound except terrible noises,” said Ha, who advised her daughter to give up the violin. But Ma said, “As I’ve been practicing so long, it’s hard to give up. I believe I will play better if I stick to practicing.”
In 2018, Ma got a chance to follow Sheng Yuan and Cao Yuhan, famous musicians from the Central Conservatory of Music, to study music in Beijing. She left her home in Ningxia to follow her musical dream, though she knew there would be more challenges ahead.
Ma expressed her excitement about performing at the big event. “All my hard work has paid off. I’m proud of standing on the stage today.”

You may know about “junk food” like French fries. But do you know about “junk sleep” Recently, a British survey (调查) shows that there are many electronic products in teenagers’ bedrooms. They are influencing teenagers’ sleep badly.
The survey was done among 1,000 British kids from 12 to 16. It found that 50% of them got just 4 to 7 hours’ sleep every day. But doctors say they need 8 to 9 hours.
Almost 25% of the kids said they often fell asleep while they were watching TV, listening to music or using other electronic products.
“This is very worrying,” said Dr. Chris, a British professor (教授). “We call it ‘junk sleep’. It means you don’t get enough sleep and the quality (质量) of the sleep is low, too. If you don’t get a good rest, you won’t do well in school the next day.”
The survey found that quite a few of the kids felt tired each day because of the junk sleep, especially girls between 13 and 16 feeling the worst. Nearly all the teenagers have a phone, MP5 or TV in their bedrooms. And lots of them even have all the three.

八、阅读回答问题(每小题2分,共10分)
Table manners are very different in every country. For example, when you are in England you must not lift your soup plate to your mouth. This is very impolite. But when you are in Japan this is completely normal. Lifting your plate to your mouth in Japan is a traditional way of eating your soup. And also in Japan you don’t have to worry about making a noise when you drink it. It just shows that you really like the food! But it is not the same in Britain, so you shouldn’t make a noise when eating there.
In Britain, people don’t put their hands or arms on the table during the meal. But in Mexico, guests keep their hands on the table all the time. In fact, you should watch what your hands do very carefully. In Arab countries, it is impolite when you eat with your left hand, so don’t do it ! In all the cultures it is impolite to speak when you are eating.
In Ukraine you should not start eating first; you should wait for all the others to start eating with you. You also have to say “Please” and “Thank you” every time you ask for and get something. If you don’t like some food, don’t make faces and don’t say, “Yuk!I hate that!” The best way to avoid making mistakes in other countries is to watch the host and try to do as he does.
根据短文内容, 回答下列问题。
56.In which country can you lift your bowl to your mouth
57.Where do the guests keep their hands all the time in Mexico
58.Which hand can’t you use when eating in Arab countries

Nowadays, more and more college students choose to order food online. It is true that ordering food online has many advantages. First of all, it is convenient and can save time. Besides, we can get all kinds of delicious food by ordering online. We can reduce going out. The most important thing is that the food online is always cheaper.
However, there are some problems with ordering food online. The quality of the food seems not as good as it is promised. The plastic packages will pollute the environment. In this way, eating habits are not healthy. In addition. it is not good to improve our independence and it is bad for school management.
