Lan Huiyun is a geography teacher from Shuozhou, Shanxi Province. After his students finished the gaokao of 2022, he and 13 of his students experienced a special journey. He and his students finally reached Qinghai Lake in Qinghai Province after riding about 2,000 kilometers in 18 days.
They set off from their school. And before arriving in Qinghai, they passed through the provinces of Shanxi, Shaanxi, Inner Mongolia, Ningxia and Gansu.
In early May 2022, Lan began to plan this journey. In order to make sure the students' safety (安全), Lan helped them do some training in riding. However, they also faced many difficulties on the journey. “When I noticed the students were tired or felt down, I would give them some snacks or tell them a joke to encourage them to move forward,” he said. “Luckily, all of us persisted and finally reached Qinghai Lake.”
