Helping Seniors(老年人)

Monkeypox(猴痘) is a virus from monkeys, which was first found in 1958. It spreads among wild animals and sometimes jumps to people.
Most patients of monkeypox used to be in Central and West Africa. The first known human infection(感染) was in 1970, in a 9-year-old boy in Congo. But now monkeypox has been found all over the world. And so far, China has reported hundreds of monkeypox infections.
Most patients only experience fever, body aches and tiredness. People who are more seriously sick may develop a rash(皮疹) on their face and hands. And the rash can spread to other parts of the body.
The virus develops in a human body from about five days to three weeks after infection. Most people get well within about two to four weeks without needing to be treated. Monkeypox can lead to death for up to one in 10 people and is thought to be more severe in children.
How can a person get monkeypox？ You can get monkeypox if you are bitten by an infected animal or if you touch its blood. Getting it from an infected person is very uncommon, but the transmission(传播) is possible through close physical contact(身体接触).Health experts have said people can also get infected by eating meat from an infected animal that has not been cooked properly.
However, there haven't been perfect ways to treat monkeypox. Scientists and doctors are still working hard on it.
