Have you ever heard of a famous charity called Operation Smile We hope we can help you understand how we are trying to help children all over the world.
Operation Smile was started by a doctor and his wife. In 1982, together with some volunteers, they went to Philippines to help children who had holes in their lips (嘴唇) or inside their mouths. It was very difficult for them to eat and drink. These volunteers worked very hard. But they worried that they could not carry on with the work because they were short of money. Then they decided to start a charity so that they could help these needy children. They called it Operation Smile.
Operation Smile works in more than twenty developing countries and has cured over 10,000 children who have problems with their mouths. Operation Smile has won many prizes for its work and in 1999 they even started a special event called “The World Journey of Hope”. 5000 children in 18 countries are cured during the event.
On the other hand, Operation Smile trains local doctors and nurses in developing countries so that they can continue to help children when Operation Smile has left. As to the children with much more serious problems, they will send them to American for further treatment.
So show your kindness and generosity (慷慨) to the needy children now. You can send your donation to Operation Smile at local bank. Many thanks from the children who can smile now will come to you.

When Shanghai introduced a new rubbish sorting policy(政策) in July last year, the people in this city took some time to get used to it. They joked that every time they took out their litter, the aunt standing by the bins would ask, "What kind of litter are you "
Starting on May 1, Beijing joined many Chinese cities by introducing a new rubbish sorting policy. People should sort their litter into four groups: kitchen, recyclable, harmful and other waste. These groups are represented(代表) by four different colors of rubbish bins-green, blue, red and gray. Those who fail to sort their litter correctly may face fines of up to 200 yuan.
The way Beijing sorts its rubbish sounds different from cities like Shanghai and Qingdao. These cities use four different groups: wet, recyclable, harmful and dry. Although their names are different, the groups are actually the same. Wet rubbish in Shanghai is, in fact, kitchen rubbish. And dry rubbish is the same as other waste.
Many people don't know how to sort their litter correctly, so Beijing government is offering online guidelines. If people don’t know how to throw away rubbish, they can search for it on the WeChat account Guanchenglishi(管城理市) to find out. By searching a key word or taking a photo, people can find out which group their waste belongs to at once.

When your pen is broken, the battery in your toy runs out, or you have some leftover food, what do you do with these things 26 But actually, all of these pieces of trash need to be sorted (分类) separately.
Garbage sorting is a big issue worldwide. 27 Shanghai has worked with Alipay to create a “green account (账户)” service for its residents (居民). Account holders get points by correctly sorting their garbage. Through the Alipay app, they can exchange the points for milk, phone cards and other products. 28
Wet waste is also known as household waste. “They are things you don’t want but that pigs can eat,” Guangzhou Daily explained. Paper, metal, glass and other things that can be reused are recyclable waste. Harmful waste includes things like medicine, batteries and fluorescent bulbs (荧光灯泡). Finally, any waste that’s not wet, recyclable or harmful will go in the “dry waste” bin.
Many other Chinese cities are also using this method to sort their garbage. For example, Shenzhen has been sorting its garbage into the same four groups since 2012. Students there also receive waste-sorting guidebooks that they must study.
China is improving its waste-sorting efforts. 29 But it’s never too late to learn how to sort your trash properly and protect the environment.
If you don’t sort your garbage, all of it will go to a landfill (垃圾填埋场) and be buried together. 30 The electronic waste you throw away, such as batteries, can pollute the soil and groundwater (地下水). Other pieces of garbage, like the metal part of a pen, can be used to make other things if they are properly recycled.
根据材料内容,从下面五个选项中选出能填入文中空缺处的最佳选项,使短文意思通顺、内容完整。

C.In recent years, some Chinese cities have been working hard on it.
