As far as I'm concerned, it is a disturbing trend. For students, what benefits most to their study is reading English books. According to a recent survey done among 45 middle school students, 10 of them do housework on a daily basis, 30 students do it often, while the other 5 never do it. Due to great academic pressure, schools tend to focus on the academic curriculum, and parents sometimes see household chores as distractions.
As far as I'm concerned, doing housework benefits students greatly. For one thing, it helps cultivate the right view of the world, life and values and develop an interest in doing physical labor. This downward trend will remain. China is expected to lift over 10 million people out of poverty by the end of 2019. Hopefully, China will shake off poverty by 2020.
The battle against poverty is tough and the victory couldn't be realized without the concerted efforts of the whole nation. The Communist Party of China and the central government have introduced a series of policies to direct the poverty relief project.
